Greetings to all of our valued clients. In the cruise industry, we call this time of year “Wave Season”, which begins around mid February and runs thru the end of May. A very large percentage of cruise vacations are planned during this period and there are numerous promotions to stimulate new reservations. The media has been in an uproar over the Carnival Triumph incident with the ship adrift in the Gulf of Mexico without power. In reality, although it was a very unpleasant experience for those passengers, we have seen rave reviews on how the crew handled things on board. Surprisingly, there has not been any slow down in new reservations. We are seeing record number of new cruise bookings to Alaska, to the Mediterranean, and on longer cruises all over the world. A surprisingly small percentage of people have never taken a cruise, and are now discovering the wide variety of ships to choose from and the activities and entertainment on board. One of our favorite cruise lines, Azamara Club Cruises, has announced that their “more inclusive” product now features even more complimentary items which now include beers and alcoholic beverages. They have also added complimentary AzAmazing Evenings….special evening events that may include private receptions at wineries, private performances, and local activities exclusively for their passengers.
