Explore Italy in all of its tastes, colors, sites and sounds on this Italy Revealed banner tour! This unique country is a beautiful and complex land that has more than 2,800 years of civilization to discover.
This tour reveals for you Rome of the Caesars, Christian Rome, Renaissance Florence, and Maritime Venice More than a simple superficial look at Italy, we explore the country’s intriguing past so that movements are understood and her cultural jewels are revealed and placed in their appropriate context.
The Jewels of Italy itinerary:
Day 1: Flight to Europe
Board for your overnight flight to Italy.
Day 2: Rome The Eternal City
Arrival in Rome, Italy. Transfer from the airport to your hotel where you will have time to rest or to start discovering Rome, the eternal city!
Evening: Meet your Tour Director at 1830. After a brief introduction, we will enjoy the tastes of Rome featuring a welcome dinner and local wine! (D)
Overnight in Rome
Day 3: Christian Rome and Rome of the Caesars
After a delicious breakfast, we will enjoy Rome from a Christian perspective.
Accompanied by your local Italy Revealed guide, we will enjoy a guided tour of the Vatican Museums highlighted by the Sistine Chapel! Here, you will discover art and artifacts from 2,000 years ago to the more recent in the museums which are considered to be a must-see for any trip to Rome.
You will also see the Vatican Cathedral and square as well as understand how many of the foundations of Christianity came to rest here at this historical location . After some free time for lunch, we will cross the Tiber River into ancient imperial Rome, or Rome of the Caesars! Here we will enjoy a special tour of the Roman Coliseum. This was the largest amphitheater in the ancient world and where 50,000+ spectators viewed gladiatorial combat, man and beast combat and even mock naval battles with real ships in a flooded out arena!
The glory and the brutality of ancient Rome will be brought to life for you. After the coliseum, we will next view the ancient Roman forum from above, highlighting its political buildings, ancient temples, and the avenue where the Roman Emperors and their armies marched in triumph! Discover where Caesar, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula and Nero all walked and wielded power!
Rest of the day free on your own to shop and explore more of the city.
Overnight in Rome, the eternal City.
Day 4: On to Renaissance Florence
After a nice breakfast, we depart Rome and her ancient glories for Florence. After a short 3 hour drive to Florence via the scenic autostrada Del sole, we check into our centrally located hotel and enjoy some free-time for lunch. Your Italy Revealed Tour Director will give you many delicious options to choose from!
Afternoon: Our specially selected Italy revealed guide will take the group for some exploration of the city that made the Renaissance! To be enjoyed and explored include:
- the Baptistery doors, which Ghiberti designed and which are known as being the first true Renaissance bronze relief masterpiece
- the Duomo where Medieval transitioned to the Renaissance and where the more turbulent moments of Florentine history are told through exquisite art
- Giotto’s bell tower; a view of Dante’s House and the presumed place where Dante met his muse Beatrice who was his guide in his masterpiece “The Divine Comedy”; Piazza del Signoria, with the imposing Bargello Fortress, both the center of Florentine political life
- the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge) as center of jewelry, and the Church of Santa Croce, where many of Florence’s native sons lie in dignity including Galileo, Machiavelli, Michelangelo, Marconi, and Rossini.
This afternoon’s tour will do more to explain the glories of Florence in detail than any simple excursion ever could… all sites are located in the historical center and not far from one another…
Rest of afternoon and evening free to explore more of the city. There are hundreds of fascinating alley ways to choose from, each with their own history, character, shops and in many cases fine Tuscan wine!

Day 5: Florence of the Artists
After a delicious breakfast, you will have time to explore more of local Florence. There are several museums to explore if you desire, such as the Academy of Fine Arts which houses Michelangelo’s famous David or the Uffizi museums with thousands of works from the Renaissance. There are also local markets selling the famous Florentine leather goods and gold jewelry since the middle ages!
During the afternoon, you will have more free time and your Italy Revealed Tour Director can give you more ideas of what to do in one of the world’s great cultural cities.
You can listen to medieval Gregorian chants at sunset from a church overlooking the Arno River and city of Florence, or maybe venture up to the hill-top town of Fiesole, just a few miles from Florence with grandiose views of the city and where Galileo tried some of his flying contraptions.
There is so much to do in Florence to reveal what this Italian jewel is all about.

Day 6: On to Verona!
After breakfast, we will venture forward to Verona! After travelling for about 3 hours, passing through the beautiful Apennine Mountains, and across the broad expanse of the flat Padania plains, we will reach Verona, known for its huge ancient Roman amphitheater and the balcony where Juliette was serenaded by Romeo!
After some free time to explore some of the sites and plenty of time for lunch, we will next venture to nearby Soave, a jewel of a town.
Soave is the center of one of the most important wine producing regions of Italy. You will have the afternoon and evening free to roam the medieval streets of Soave and get acquainted with her art, architecture and fascinating local delicacies.
Joseph Walker of Italy Revealed considers this town to be one of the hidden jewels of Italy.

Day 7: Venice, the Queen of the Adriatic!
After a delicious breakfast, we are on to nearby Venice! At only 50 miles from Soave we will arrive in an hour.
Once there, we will meet our local Italy Revealed Expert Guide who will reveal the glories of her “Serrenisima!” Venice consists of more than 100 islands, each connected to one another by canals and bridges. Venice grew to be one of the most powerful city states in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance.
Her strength was founded upon the power of her navy and the glory of her merchants who traded in every corner of the globe! Your tour will start with a walking tour of St. Mark’s Square and bell tower, while continuing on to the historical and impressive Doge’s Palace from where power emanated and the nearby Bridge of Sighs
After the tour you will have free time to explore some of the churches and noble buildings that describe a city that was once the envy of the world or to visit one of the islands. Murano is world famous for Venetian glass and is where you can see traditional glass blowers.
Burano is famous for traditional Italian lace and Torcello for being the very first island inhabited by the first Venetians, more than 1,500 years ago!
Late afternoon: Transfer back to nearby Soave.
Evening: We will enjoy a farewell Banquet! More than the main entrees, we will sample local cheeses, delicious breads, and many of the local but world famous wines! You will learn about this region through your mouth in the shadows of one of the most perfectly preserved medieval towns complete with barbicans and formidable defensive walls! It is a fitting salute to Italy! (D)

Day 8: Alas alas, after a delicious breakfast, we leave Soave for our return flight home out of International Airport of Venice…

20% per person upon confirmation is needed to hold a spot. This is a non-refundable deposit although in case of client cancelling their trip, we can move passengers to a future date. The balance of payments are due 45 days before the trip. A full refund minus the deposit are possible up to 45 days before the trip goes in case of client cancellation. 50% can be refunded between 15 and 45 days before the trip in case of client cancellation but no refunds within 15 days of the trip.
